As part of the event accompanying A BIT BLOODY, A BIT DARK, A BIT GENTLE EXHIBITION by Mateusz Blaczek, we invite you to a meeting with Dr Szymon Makuch from the DSW Lower Silesia University. The subject of the meeting will be computer games both in the context of their creation and impact. The second guest will be Dominik Podsiadły, who will present the work of artists who use circuit-bending and data-bending to experiment with the shape of sound and image. The presentation will include projects and works by artists such as genre trailblazers Reed Ghazala and Nam June Paik, but also contemporary artists such as Karl Klomp, Dries Depoorter, Rosa Menkman, Jim Satrom, Nick Briz, Gijs Gieskes and Polish artist and musician Robert B. Lisek.
The event will be moderated by journalist Katarzyna Kaczorowska.
Dr Szymon Makuch – a specialist in intellectual property law, who is interested in the popular culture market, legal environment and the functioning of the NGO sector. Lecturer in subjects such as financial and business aspects of the creative industry, innovation management and technology transfer. Author of articles on popular culture research.
Dominik Podsiadły – a Wrocław-based multidisciplinary artist, urban activist and curator. Active in the broad spectrum of visual arts: from painting, through assemblage and social sculpture, to the art of new media. Initiator of the #nfcdab near field communication digital art biennale, which uses smartphones to present works by digital artists.
Katarzyna Kaczorowska – a Wrocław-based journalist associated with the Polityka weekly.
