The exhibition ANIMAL_INSTINCTS! explores what connects humans and other animals. It showcases the emotions, experiences, and relationships in which animals can be allies, carers, but also adversaries.

In the artists’ works, love, spirituality, or totem are intertwined with elementary feelings of fear and distrust towards animals. Through colour, form, movement and words, the artists of the ArtBrut Gallery describe to us the significance of animals in human emotional and social life. Each artist has approached the exhibition’s theme differently, creating texts, paintings, drawings, spatial and performative objects. The diversity of interpretations reflects the vital forces of nature; it is like an unknown forest into which we step, absorbing its beauty and mystery. ANIMAL_INSTINCTS! allows us to transcend the boundaries of time to that undefined moment when humans first regarded an animal as a fellow being. From that moment on, our fates have been inextricably intertwined on various levels.

We exist in a shared space where we live, are born, and die.
