46A/102 Ruska Street, Wrocław (1st floor, intercom no. 1)
As part of the accompanying event of Kamil Kurzawa's solo exhibition THE LANDS OF SUPER BEINGS, we'd like to invite you to a meeting with game and narrative designer Aleksandra Sokólska and Olek Zid, who is not only a master of narrative games, but also studies them from a scientific perspective. The meeting will be an opportunity to discuss the construction of virtual worlds, the determinants that define these constructions, the relationship between authors and players in the created space, as well as the boundaries between the created and real worlds.
The meeting will be moderated by Katarzyna Kaczorowska, a Wrocław-based journalist associated with the Polityka weekly and a social activist. Both the author of the exhibition, Kamil Kurzawa, and the artistic mentor of THE LANDS OF SUPER BEINGS, Dominik Podsiadły, will also take part in the event.
Aleksandra Sokólska – game and narrative designer with a background in the film industry. She specialises in narrative design that tells a story through a combination of level design, gameplay, non-linear dialogue and quest design, yet she has been designing and writing non-linear storylines, including for LARPs, for over 15 years. She worked on titles such as Gamedec and Nobody Wants To Die. She currently works as a narrative designer at Flying Wild Hog. She works on accessibility in the media with a particular focus on audio description in audiovisual productions and accessibility in computer games.
Olek Zid – a fan of games and gaming media, both computer and board games and role-playing games. A long-time master of narrative games such as Warhammer Fantasy, Call of Cthulu or Neuroshima. Currently, he is working on his diploma in art mediation at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław, as part of which he takes actions aimed at including RPGs in the field of visual arts as one of its media. He designs the plot and game mechanics and also designs the sound. He is interested in, among other things, strategies that redefine the concept of art as the result of broadly understood human creativity.
