As part of the event accompanying the exhibition of artists associated with the ArtBrut Gallery & Studio A MIRROR WITH SILENT MEMORY, we would like to invite you to a meeting with Karolina Ćwik and Grzegorz Stadnik, both of whom work with photography.

Grzegorz Stadnik will present a social photography project called Portrait of the Suburbs. He provides random suburb residents with automatic film cameras, allowing them to create a personal story about their place.

Karolina Ćwik's project entitled Don’t look at me is an intimate story about the fine line between complete fulfilment and boundless love and the pain and sacrifices of motherhood. It is the artist's question of where femininity ends and motherhood begins.

The second part of the meeting will include a discussion with guests, the exhibition's artistic supervisor Wojciech Chrubasik and the artists participating in the exhibition. The discussion will focus on the authenticity and intuition in the photographic creative process and its simultaneous potential to address social themes.

The meeting will be moderated by Katarzyna Kaczorowska, a Wrocław-based journalist associated with the Polityka weekly and a social activist.

Karolina Ćwik – a visual artist, and photographer. Graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Wrocław and a student at the Institute of Creative Photography in Opava. Based on her own experiences, she explores the interpenetrating female identities: mother, daughter, and artist. Karolina's works have been shown both in Poland and abroad. She has won many prestigious awards and received numerous scholarships.

Grzegorz Stadnik – an artist photographer with more than a decade of experience in fine art photography. Stadnik is involved in community animation at the Suburban Centre and author of the photographic project Portrait of the Suburbs. His photographs show a respectful and open approach to the people and objects he photographs.
