We would like to invite you to an event accompanying the joint exhibition of Jacek Kröle and Krzysztof Tarnowski Life Isn’t a Fairy Tale.

The event will be moderated by Dominika Łabądź, the exhibition's artistic mentor. The special guest will be an art historian Joanna Grzelczyk. The event will also be attended by Jacek Kröle and Krzysztof Tarnowski, the authors of the exhibition.
The language of the cartoon, based on the special relationship between image and word, serves the purpose of telling a story or conveying an idea. Space plays a decisive role, providing a platform for the unfolding the sequential stories. What happens between the frames is as important as what is captured on them.
The two artists in the exhibition Life Isn’t a Fairy Tale, Krzysztof Tarnowski and Jacek Kröle, present the possibilities of cartoon art by exploring the notions of space, time, composition, perspective and colour. They present the arrangements of elements creating fragments of the presented world from various points of view, provoking the viewer to move in the created space. Subjective narration encourages imaginative reconstruction of events and elements of the environment not visible in the frames, while colour enhances emotions accompanying this adventure.
The meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss cartoon as a medium whose language allows the visual shaping of ideas and thoughts. A short lecture on the characteristics and potential of cartoon art will precede the talk with the artists.
Joanna Grzelczyk – MA in art history, cultural animator, mainly involved in the popularisation of authorial comics. Holder of a 2020 scholarship from the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, author of numerous educational and artistic projects, initiator of the Wykolejeni comics discussion club.
Dominika Łabądź is a visual artist, curator and culture animator who lives and works in Wrocław. Doctoral student at the Faculty of Painting and Sculpture of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław.
The exhibition has been organised within a public task entitled:
RUNNING ARTBRUT GALLERY AND STUDIO FOR SOCO-CULTURAL INCLUSION FOR PERSONS WITH INTELLECTIAL DISABILITIES AND MENTAL DISORDERS IN THE YEARS 2019–2021 financed by the Municipality of Wroclaw.
