Exhibition Artistic Mentor: Anna Dyrka-Brzozowska

The ODLOT Gallery is run by the charges of the ‘House at the Residential Estate’ Community. It is made up of ten people with intellectual disabilities who, implementing their own empowerment program, show that people destined to vegetation in welfare institutions, and frequently also in their family homes, can live a satisfying life and work creatively. For many years, they have been learning and working five days a week in the Creative Studio, improving their already acquired skills and acquiring new ones, creating paintings, traditional and computer graphics, artistic installations, textile arts, as well as making utility objects according to their own ideas and designs. All this will be presented at the exhibition. Moreover, we present a film with études of mime improvisations and we invite you to meet the artists during the opening of the exhibition and at the accompanying event. All this will provide an image of the life and work of extraordinary, sensitive and talented people. We will learn about their life, passions and the work they do together, offering us a piece of themselves.

Members of the ‘House at the Residential Estate’ Community. For 25 years Viola, Marlena, Żaneta, Natalia, Ula, Mikołaj, Łukasz and Adam are mey have been staying in two flats in different parts of the city. They create together in the Creative Studio, implementing Anna Dyrka-Brzozowska’s original programme. The project was nominated for the award of the President of the Republic of Poland as a good practice implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
