Kamil Łyjak has been a draughtsman and graphic artist associated with the ArtBrut Gallery & Studio since 2016. In his work, he uses fineliners and markers, documenting the objects that he is surrounded by, the places he is close to, and all those things that concern him day-to-day. Kamil is also the author of a series of portraits presenting his friends and family. Working with unusual minuteness, he creates dense and multi-layered works. Some of them - paper sheets filled to the edges - bring to mind the Greek term kenophobia or Latin horror vacui - ’fear of empty space’. However, Kamil also creates really spare works in form, which constitute an in-depth analysis of the objects he draws.
In addition to art, another important Kamil’s passion is sport.
The first solo exhibition of Kamil will present a selection of the artist’s works from different periods of his career. Apart from the drawings that have been created in recent years, we will also see his new works, which are the result of work on unusual materials such as XPS panels and canvas.
